Assistant Producer – TalkTV (London)

Assistant Producer, 12 Month FTC

Your Role: TalkTV is looking for a talented Assistant Producer with a passion for news and current affairs to join our team. You will be part of the editorial team for the daily news and discussion, generating original ideas and bringing in exclusive content.

Day to day you will:

  • Pitching story ideas to the team, suggesting guests or topics from the news and social media
  • Selecting and editing content
  • Booking guests and writing briefs
  • Working with high profile talent and establish contacts with some of the UK’s best-known commentators and broadcasters
  • Supporting Producers
  • Writing high quality scripts

What we’re looking for from you: 

  • A strong understanding and passion for current affairs
  • A great eye for a good news story
  • Knowledge of editing and newsroom software – particularly iNEWS
  • The ability to remain calm under the pressure of daily deadlines and producing live TV
  • Flexibility as this role will require shift work, sometimes unsocial hours

TalkTV delivers a bold voice in current affairs, debate and opinion available on linear TV, online and on the TalkTV mobile app. Piers Morgan Uncensored, our multi award-winning prime time show, is an hour of lively debates and world class interviews, presented by Piers Morgan. PMU continually sets the global news agenda and its YouTube currently looks to be the fastest growing page in UK broadcasting, with 23 million (and counting) having watched Piers’ Cristiano Ronaldo scoop alone. Talk Today is TalkTV’s new breakfast TV show and is a dynamic mix of news and views, broadcast daily from 6am to 9.30am from state-of-the-art TV studios in The News Building at London Bridge. Broadcaster Jeremy Kyle joins TV presenter & columnist Nicola Thorp to anchor Monday to Thursday to discuss the issues that really matter to the nation. Then Julia Hartley-Brewer, whose top-drawer coverage of current affairs and politics is delivered with her trademark no-nonsense approach. Vanessa Feltz guides you through the big stories of the day from the world of politics, current affairs and showbiz.Rosanna Lockwood brings a wealth of journalistic experience to get inside the stories of the day with expert analysis and lively debate. Join a panel of opinionated famous faces to debate the hot topics everybody’s talking about on TheTalkMike Graham tears his way through the morning newspapers and brings a much needed dose of common sense to the day’s big stories. Drawing together world-class talent across News UK, TalkTV is available live or on-demand 24/7, on Sky Channel 522,Sky Glass Channel 508, Virgin Media Channel 606, Free view Channel 237 and Free sat Channel 217 as well as on DAB+, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Samsung TV Plus, YouTube, the Talk.TV website and TalkTV iOS and Android apps.
