Audience & Content Editor – Newsquest (Swindon)

An opportunity has arisen to lead the team at one of the best-performing news titles in the Newsquest stable.

The Swindon Advertiser has won Newsbrand of the Year in recent years and is one of the most historic local news titles in the country, read by tens of thousands of loyal readers every day both online and in print.

We are now looking for an Audience and Content Editor to lead its news cycle and push our content to the next level.

We’re looking for a digital dynamo to drive our audience size through the mentoring and motivating of our team of reporters and by having a clear idea of what content will drive this interest.

The role includes helping with all aspects of digital, from story ideas and social media management to understanding SEO and editing submitted content.

You will be working alongside another audience and content editor managing our other Wiltshire titles, the Wiltshire Times and the Gazette and Herald with a team of ten reporters.

This role would suit someone with existing news desking experience seeking a bigger challenge or an accomplished senior reporter looking for the next step up.

  • A master of social and how best to use it
  • Confident in dealing with all aspects of a modern-day newsroom, from a trainee digital reporter to a newspaper production hub senior.
