Your team: Situated within News UK’s customer department, the Times Money Mentor team is tasked with driving editorial excellence & revenue through expertise, thought leadership, and innovation whilst creating the foundations for future revenue streams. You will report to the Times Money Mentor Editor and work closely with the e-commerce and affiliates team, as well as key editorial stakeholders.

 

Your role: Best Buys Editor

Times Money Mentor’s goal is to help readers live richer lives, and a key part of that is answering the question: “What’s the best product for me?” To help with that, we have a large and growing group of pages aimed at addressing that question for a range of different products.

As Best Buys Editor you will write, commission, edit and publish review-based content to and help develop The Times Money Mentor brand. Ideally, you will be knowledgeable about financial services and have already had success writing about the products, services, and brands in this sector. You will create content rooted in data and analytics but written with people’s needs in mind. You will also need to keep an eye on revenue and traffic growth to ensure targets are met. A strong self-starter and a stickler for detail, you will be adept at managing multiple projects and stakeholders, ensuring complete accuracy and efficiency at all times.

You will work collaboratively with editorial, analytics, and commercial teams to produce high-quality work at all times. As a results-driven individual with a can-do attitude, you will be adaptable and thrive on working with a talented editorial team in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.


Day to day, you will: 

  • Work closely with and under the direction of the Times Money Mentor Editor to develop and build the editorial strategy for The Times Money Mentor Best Buy pages
  • Commission best-in-class review content based on strategic decisions rooted in data and insight
  • Ensure current Best Buy pages are up to date and performing as well as possible for readers and SEO
  • Work closely with the Affiliate Manager to write and publish content for key long-term partnerships and ad-hoc advertorial campaigns.
  • Research and review financial products and write engaging articles with your findings
  • Take guidance from the SEO analyst to commission and publish content that resonates with our audiences and traffic sources.
  • Work with the Business Analyst to ensure data is accurate and help refine and define what “best” really means for product categories.
  • Work towards traffic, revenue and engagement targets, ensuring key metrics are achieved across all work areas.
  • Work closely with wider stakeholders (the eCommerce team, editorial and SEO teams) to build revenue streams across the section and increase yield wherever possible.
  • Support partnerships, e-commerce and affiliates endeavours (ISA season etc) when required
  • Commission, edit and publish with FCA, ASA and CAP code regulations front of mind, ensuring compliance with these at all times.


Key Skills:

  • Proven digital journalism experience, preferably in a newsroom environment, with good knowledge of the financial services sector
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills
  • Copywriting and proofreading experience
  • Proven ability to deliver projects with a range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Commercially minded
  • Organised and efficient
  • Excellent time management
  • Proactive and resourceful
  • Ability to work on your own initiative
  • Good working knowledge of SEO
  • Working knowledge of WordPress content management system or similar
