Please note – This role can be based at any of our hubs – Manchester, Newcastle, Cardiff, Birmingham or London – where you will be required to work up to the 3 days from one of the hubs. Please specify in your application which is your preference.

We are excited to announce an expansion of our content hub, which has created brand new Content Editor roles, working for a selection of our fantastic brands.

This autumn we are expanding the Content Hub with the General Assignments team,  which has been designed to be deployed flexibly on breaking stories and trends across our portfolio – you could be writing for the Mirror one day and the Manchester Evening News the next. As a Content Editor, you will lead a team of Audience Writers and play a key role in finding and crafting great content that resonates with a specific target audience. Job Description

What will the role involve?

As a Content Editor, you’ll be responsible for leading a team of Audience Writers, driving performance in a target-driven environment. The role will involve conducting in-depth research to understand the target audience’s demographics, interests and behaviours and the performance of our content. From a content creation perspective, you will be able to develop compelling and informative content, including articles, blog posts, social media posts and newsletters. You will optimise content for various platforms, ensuring content is visually appealing, easy to read and keeps people on site. In this role, you will track and analyse content performance using analytic tools, and collaborate with other team members, such as designers, editors and marketing.

 

Qualifications

Who are we looking for?

To be a successful Content Editor at Reach, you will need to have an NCTJ or equivalent journalism qualification, alongside digital publishing experience. You’ll have a proven track record for accurate digital storytelling using video, words and pictures. Previous experience of leading a team in a fast paced and demanding environment is key. You’ll have an excellent understanding of audiences with an ability to connect with the needs of our target audiences. Your research skills, creativity and attention to detail are key elements to being successful in this role.

As a member of the General Assignments team, the successful candidate must be available to work at short notice, and comfortable with accommodating last-minute requests as needed to support business needs.
