Reuters is seeking an experienced Japanese-language news reporter to help drive an expansion of our coverage of Japanese companies. Corporate activity and capital markets are undergoing unprecedented change in Japan, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing reporting on a range of sectors including semiconductors, automotive, materials, and retail. The role involves contextualizing individual events within the broader scope of Japan’s economy and society, providing insightful analysis for our global readership.

About the role
In this opportunity as Corporate News Reporter (Japanese Language), you will:
· Help drive coverage of Japanese corporations across diverse industries such as electronics, digital, automotive, heavy industry, trading companies, distribution, and pharmaceuticals. Ensure the delivery of a consistent and high-quality stream of articles daily.
· Develop expertise in specific industries, writing exclusive reports and in-depth articles.
· Collaborate with colleagues domestically and internationally to communicate macroeconomic and societal changes in Japan through corporate reporting.
· Explore innovative ways to incorporate AI into the news creation process.
About you
You’re a fit for the role of Corporate News Reporter (Japanese Language) if your background includes:
· At least 5 years of experience as a reporter or editor. Demonstrated expertise in journalism with a track record of leadership in reporting or editing capacities.
· Advanced proficiency in professional Japanese writing.
· In-depth knowledge of economics and finance
· Ability to communicate in English
· Strong collaborative skills to work effectively with colleagues and editors
· Keen interest in leveraging AI in journalism
· A broad curiosity and interest beyond your primary area of expertise

要件
· 5年以上の記者または編集者経験がある方
· 日本語でプロフェッショナルな記事を書く高い能力
· 経済や金融に関する知識、または強い関心
· 専門分野にとらわれない幅広い興味と好奇心
· 英語でのコミュニケーション能力
· 同僚と円滑に協力できる能力
