Company Description

We are looking for an experienced Deputy Online Editor to join us at the Mirror. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in shaping and setting the news agenda read by millions around the world every day.

We are looking for a dynamic, versatile journalist and editor who will support the Online Editor in overseeing all content across the website. From content curation and team management to helping drive our digital strategy, you will play an integral part in the Mirror’s continued digital success.

We’re looking for fresh ideas and new perspectives from people from a wide range of backgrounds, and we want you to tell us the stories you believe are important from our many communities so we can continue to diversify our content.

This role operates on a rota basis, primarily working late shifts (3pm-11pm) and some day shifts/weekends as needed, so a flexible approach is required.

This role is hub based, linked to our London Hub in Canary Wharf. We are therefore open to candidates based in and around London.

Job Description

What will the role involve?

You will oversee the curation and amplification of high-quality digital content across the Daily Mirror’s online platforms. You will ensure all content is engaging, accurate, and aligned with our editorial standards and audience expectations. You will collaborate with section editors and other departments including social, video, and affiliates to develop and execute content strategies that drive traffic and engagement.

You will manage and mentor a team of online journalists, providing guidance and feedback to maintain high editorial standards and encourage professional development. You will set content priorities, assign tasks and ensure breaking news is monitored and covered comprehensively.

You will assist in the development and implementation of the online editorial strategy, focusing on growth, innovation, and audience engagement. You will analyse web traffic and user engagement metrics to inform content planning and improve performance, always staying updated on digital trends and new tools to enhance our content delivery.
