Development producer – The Times and The Sunday Times (London)

The Times & Sunday Times are looking for a highly creative development producer to build new franchises for our Life & Style YouTube channel.

Reporting to the Director of Video, you will be responsible for pitching new style, travel, culture and luxury series to help grow our YouTube audience and you will oversee the creation of sponsored content pitches, working closely with our commercial team to respond to client briefs.

The successful candidate will be skilled at interpreting data to understand the topics and formats that resonate with our audience and will be able to develop original solutions that generate high reach and engagement. They will have a proven track record of creating concepts that result in high engagement and reach and understand the commercial landscape to find innovative ways to drive revenue.

Responsibilities

  • Successfully manage productive relationships with senior editors in the Travel, Style, Culture and Luxury departments and with journalists across the newsrooms
  • Develop YouTube franchises for our style, travel, culture and luxury content.
  • Oversee all aspects of development including creating the series title, show synopsis, episode examples, format and talent
  • Interpret data to understand the topics and personalities that generate video with high reach and engagement
  • Create engaging decks in response to client briefs
  • Follow video content trends and understand the brands’ perspectives and how they differ from one another
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in commercial, demonstrating a strong understanding of the commercial landscape and responding to client briefs, creating video franchises that drive revenue

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years of digital video development experience
  • A proven track record of creating content with high engagement and reach
  • A strong understanding of YouTube and the kind of content that performs well on the platform
  • Highly creative and innovative
  • Experience working in sponsored or branded content, delivering highly polished decks
  •  A strong understanding of editorial compliance and regulatory issues
