This hybrid position will likely be based in London. Other locations within Europe will also be considered.

Looking to use your editing skills to control the spread of misinformation in and around the EU?

Reuters is seeking an experienced editor to lead a regional fact-checking project and support the high volume of editing demands from our global fact-checking output.

As our Fact-Checking Editor, EU, you’ll take the lead on highly-visible projects with major clients whilst juggling the demands of both our editorial standards and business development within our fact-checking team.

 

About the Role

As our Fact-Checking Editor, EU, you will:

  • Oversee a fact-checking project while fostering a positive, collaborative and inclusive work environment
  • Support fact-check article production and build closer ties with the broader Reuters news file
  • Collaborate with journalists across regional teams to develop fact-checking articles
  • Meet Reuters Fact Check deliverables outlined in our fact-checking partnerships
  • Strengthen relationships with clients and partners
  • Explore latest digital verification techniques and tools
  • Enforce Reuters’ editorial and ethical standards, adhering to style, guidelines and policies laid out by the Reuters Trust Principles and the Reuters Handbook of Journalists, including on accuracy, speed, balance and clarity
  • Produce fact-checking articles or explainers when required

 

About You 

To be our Fact-Checking Editor, EU, you will likely to have:

  • Demonstrable experience of global news writing and/or editing experience.
  • Demonstrable experience of editing under tight deadlines and sharing constructive feedback with journalists.
  • Excellent reporting and writing skills, with the ability to work independently and autonomously.
  • A proven interest in covering European affairs and global misinformation
  • Strong news judgement .
  • An ability to identify emerging trends and misinformation .
  • Proven ability to work nimbly and quickly with multiple teams.
  • Fluency in French, Spanish or any other European language is a plus, but by no means a requirement.
  • Prior experience in OSINT or fact-checking would be a clear advantage but is by no means necessary.
