Fact-Checking Producer – Thomson Reuters (London)
Reuters is looking for a journalist with strong research and writing skills to join its dynamic fact-checking team. This position will involve identifying viral content relating to misinformation topics in the U.S. and writing comprehensive fact-check articles to establish the facts behind them. The post will also support the Reuters fact-checking team in writing misinformation trend reports and other new projects that may arise. This hybrid working position will be based in our newsroom in London, Toronto, New York or Washington, D.C. We are also open to applications from qualified candidates who can work remotely in other North America locations or Barcelona.
About the Role
As a Fact-Checking Producer, you will:
- Work on an exciting project that aims to tackle misinformation on social media
- Have a keen interest in U.S. politics and current events
- Be deeply familiar with social media as a newsgathering tool and how misinformation travels online
- Proactively pitch fact-check articles addressing misinformation
- Communicate fact-check findings in a manner that is clear, concise, and free from bias
- Be part of our global fact-checking team
About You
To be a Fact-Checking Producer, you will:
- Demonstrate an analytical approach and an ability to research independently
- Have at least 3 years of reporting and news writing experience
- Show a proven interest in covering U.S. current affairs and misinformation
- Show strong news judgement
- Be able to identify emerging trends and misinformation
- Write crisp and clean copy in English
Prior experience in reporting, social media newsgathering, OSINT or fact-checking would be a clear advantage.
This role has a daytime shift pattern and may include occasional weekend shifts.
