The Star Online has an exciting opening for a Google Discover/Audience Reporter to join the team.

This role involves working closely with site editors to identify opportunities to expand our coverage on key topics that resonate with Google, all while keeping a fun and engaging approach.

We’re looking for fresh ideas and new perspectives from people from a wide range of backgrounds, and we want you to tell us the stories you believe are important from our many communities so we can continue to diversify our content.

This role is home and hub based linked to our London Hub. We are therefore open to candidates based in and around London.

 

Job Description

What will the role involve?

To drive readership to the Daily Star through engaging, imaginative and well optimised news stories, while also providing quality, exclusive, on-brand content and have a good understand of SEO and analytics To be a self-starter who can see an opportunity for traffic across a number of sections including, news, sport, showbiz, TV and features

You will bring in front-page stories and features in accordance with IPSO and legal requirements, use your contacts to secure exclusive interviews and news stories, push content via Facebook and Twitter following the digital social media policy, and optimise stories following the digital SEO strategy.

Additionally, you will write and edit according to house style, monitor competitor publications, collaborate in the newsroom, support other departments, and complete tasks accurately within deadlines.

 

Qualifications

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a skilled writer with a strong understanding of news reporting and story structure. The ideal candidate is versatile with a deep understanding of digital media, including SEO and analytics, and has a strong grasp of the Daily Star brand and audience.

You should be able to work well under pressure, multitask effectively, prioritise tasks efficiently, and possess excellent diary management skills.

You will be an experienced Journalist at a national or major regional title, experienced in a fast-paced newsroom, excellent contacts across various sectors, an NCTJ diploma or equivalent qualification, up-to-date SEO knowledge, experience with CMS systems such as Chartbeat or Google Analytics, and social media savvy.
