Are you as comfortable understanding the significance of what a Secretary of State is telling the House of Commons as you are writing about how a student might need to make £10 of shopping last all week? Are you an experienced journalist with a keen interest in the latest money news? We are looking for a Money Content Editor to join our newly created Content Hub.

This is a fantastic opportunity to write engaging money content for more than 50 major news sites including some of the biggest publishers in the UK including the Daily Express, Mirror, Star, Manchester Evening News, Daily Record, Liverpool Echo and Birmingham Live.

The Content Hub is home to around 300 journalists from across our business and powered by our amazing brands, delivering brilliant content that drives engagement, impact and results. You’ll be part of our Money and Lifestyle team, publishing original content across our network based on audience data.

This role is home based and we are therefore open to candidates based across the UK.

Job Description

What will the role involve?

You will source, write, edit and share money focussed, shareable content stories across our brands web, mobile, app and social platforms. You will tell stories through a variety of channels including videos, pictures and written articles with engaging captions and headlines that get our readers talking. You will use effective social searches and social media to source stories and push your content.

If a big announcement or press conference takes place, you will pick out the newsworthy lines, shaping money coverage for our readers across the country. You will help manage reporters in your team, showing them how to make their stories sing and dance for referrers including Google Discover and spotting lines they should be covering. You will take responsibility for achieving targets as part of the team, utilising analytics to learn lessons and analyse what works. This role will involve working shifts on a rota basis with some evenings/weekends, so a flexible approach is required.

Qualifications

Who are we looking for?

You are an experienced senior NCTJ qualified journalist (or have relevant time served experience) with demonstrable experience writing and editing news content in a regional or national newsroom and excellent media law knowledge. You are an expert digital storyteller with an understanding of how to create engaging content. You have a keen news sense and can leap onto the trending issues of the day. You can create and edit your team’s content at pace, meeting deadlines with ease.

You have a keen interest in money news and a desire to report on the latest money issues that will inform and help our readers. You are social media savvy and have proven experience promoting your content across various platforms. You are a supportive people manager level role and have the skills to support and inspire your team through clear communication and motivation.
