Podcast producer – Times Radio (London)

Producer/Journalist: Times Podcasts 

The Team: Times Podcasts is responsible for designing and producing podcasts that match the breadth, depth and dynamism of the journalism found in The Times and The Sunday Times. The team is expanding to test new podcast ideas and to help produce a podcast portfolio that covers politics to sport, and we are looking for PRODUCER-JOURNALISTS to make great new podcasts.

Your role: As a Producer/Journalist, reporting to the Editor, Times Podcasts, and when required to the Sr Producers you will identify, pitch and develop compelling podcast series often in partnership with new talent, correspondents and other producers. You will work closely with some of Britain’s leading journalists, creating audio that sets the news agenda and examines major stories in a new light.

 

Day to day you will:

  • Produce new original podcast offerings, both daily and/or serialized storytelling
  • Work on podcast productions working creatively within budgets and staffing levels
  • Work to best-in-class digital podcast practices.
  • Be aware of marketing, sales, and communication strategies.
  • Forward plan and generate fresh ideas.
  • Potentially work unsociable hours including weekends
  •  Work independently where necessary

 

What we’re looking for from you:

You are a Producer who is proactive, organised and great at working with a huge variety of people. You will have a strong track record in audio storytelling ideally with production within a successful podcast, or radio programme team. Video editing skills are also viewed as an asset for these positions.

  • Exceptional ability in recording and editing audio and being familiar with advanced editing software. (Familiarity with filming and video editing.)
  • Knowledge of the legal framework for journalism in UK, and industry guidelines
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Strong and creative ideas on how to make compelling content.
  • Confident working in a fast-paced environment and able to react positively to change You will have an ability to build long lasting professional relationships
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to work closely with presenters and within a team
  • A creative mind and ability to think differently and be proactive
