Producer, Life and Style (Travel) – The Times and The Sunday Times (London)

The Times & Sunday Times are looking for an experienced digital video producer to create travel video content for our website, app and Life & Style YouTube channel.

Reporting to the Director of Video, you will oversee all aspects of production, including development, pitching, storyboarding, directing, scripting and overseeing the edit.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of creating premium content that generates high reach and engagement across digital platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Successfully manage productive relationships with senior editors in the Travel department and with journalists across the newsrooms
  • Create and manage video content for The Times and Sunday Times app, website and for our Life & Style YouTube channel
  • Oversee all aspects of video production for Travel, including development, storyboarding, scripting, directing and editing
  • Pitch and deliver original Travel video ideas that demonstrate a strong understanding of The Times and Sunday Times Travel readers
  • Manage shoots and teams remotely to manage both large scale and small scale projects to a high standard
  • Ensure consistent quality across all Travel video output
  • Use SEO and audience data analysis to help guide story ideas
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in commercial, demonstrating a strong understanding of the commercial landscape and responding to client briefs, creating video franchises that drive revenue

Skills and experience

  • 3-5 years experience producing short form YouTube content from start to finish, carrying it from pitch to shoot, edit and delivery
  • Strong understanding of the YouTube audience and how to package content to attract a large audience
  • Ability to pitch unique story ideas and gain exclusive access
  • Proven track record of working across a variety of formats including contributor-led, scripted and studio-based films as well as original short documentaries.
  • Understanding of a story arc and how to build characters, scenes and moments
  • Proven track record of creating films with high reach and engagement
  • Ability to create imaginative visual treatments and work on tight deadlines
  • Ability to work efficiently in the field and manage a team of creatives remotely
  • Ideally: an ability to shoot and edit
  • A strong understanding of editorial compliance and regulatory issues.
