We are looking for a Senior Community Content Curator to join our dynamic InYourArea team. InYourArea is a hyperlocal news site, we aggregate news from other sites as well as produce our own native content.

This is a fantastic opportunity to support ongoing editorial projects across all publishing platforms by researching, curating, sourcing, writing, organising, formatting and uploading content. You will actively engage with members of the InYourArea community, readers and our newsrooms to generate stories and other content. You will create high quality engaging content and help to grow other InYourArea spaces such as InYourPocket, reader revenue strands and more.

We’re looking for fresh ideas and new perspectives from people from a wide range of backgrounds, and we want you to tell us the stories you believe are important for our many communities, so we can continue to diversify our content.

This role is home based and we are therefore open to candidates based across the UK.

What will the role involve?

You will source User Generated Content (UGC) which could mean researching material for publication, contacting organisations such as charities, schools, clubs, event organisers and managing emails and feeds. You will deliver right-first-time UGC and unique content for multiple platforms within deadlines.

You will use social media, customer and analytics tools to research, curate and create content for specific projects as directed. You will provide editorial support in the form of photo sourcing, assisting with editorial promotions like competition entries and cost of living/money saving opportunities. You will establish, maintain and develop excellent relationships with content suppliers within the IYA communities and become a voice for your team. This role involves some weekend/evening shifts on a rota basis, so a flexible approach is required. 

Who are we looking for?

You are passionate about local journalism and have proven experience writing and sourcing engaging news driven content. You have completed an NCTJ qualification and a Digital Certificate of Journalism (or equivalent) and have excellent media law and digital publishing skills. You have a good understanding of SEO best practices and a keen eye for what makes an engaging story.

You are a team player who can find, write and publish content at pace. You are keen to engage with our communities directly on the platform and ensure they adhere to our community standards. You are social media savvy and know how to share content on a variety of platforms to make sure our stories reach a wide audience.
