Social Media Video Reporter – Thomson Reuters (London)

We are seeking a highly skilled and creative Social Media Video Reporter to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for producing, shooting, and editing high-quality video content specifically tailored for social media platforms. This role requires a passion for visual storytelling, a deep understanding of video production, and expertise in social media video trends and best practices.

 

About the Role

As our Social Media Video Reporter, you will:

  • Video Production: Produce, shoot, and edit engaging and high-quality video content for various social media platforms, including TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, X, and Facebook.
  • Editing: Utilize advanced video editing techniques, including the integration of graphics, animations, and sound effects, to enhance the visual appeal and impact of our content, using Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Storytelling: Develop and execute compelling visual narratives that resonate with our global audience and align with the Trust Principles.
  • Understand our audience: Tailor video content to meet the specifications and algorithms of different social media platforms to maximize engagement and reach. Stay current with the latest trends in social media video, tools, and best practices, and suggest innovative ideas to keep our content fresh and relevant.
  • Social Media Strategy: Collaborate with the rest of the social media team to develop and implement video content strategies that drive audience growth and interaction.
  • Analytics: Monitor and analyze the performance of video content using social media analytics tools, and make data-driven decisions to optimize future content
  • Collaboration: Work closely with our journalists to ensure cohesive and compelling storytelling across all platforms.
  • Brand Consistency: Ensure all video content aligns with Reuters voice and style, and the Trust Principles.

 

About You

To be our Social Media Video Reporter, you will likely have:

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in video production and editing, preferably within a news or media organization.
  • Skills: It is crucial the candidate be proficient in Creative Cloud, especially Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects. Strong understanding of social media platforms and their video requirements.
  • Creativity: Demonstrated ability to create engaging, high-quality video content that appeals to diverse audiences.
  • Storytelling: Excellent visual storytelling skills with a strong sense of narrative and attention to detail.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely through video.
  • Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple video projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Media Production, Film, Communications, or a related field is preferred.
  • Portfolio: A portfolio showcasing your video production and editing work, particularly content created for social media platforms.
