This role is based in our Liverpool city centre Hub and we are therefore open to candidates based in and around Liverpool.

 

Job Description

What will the role involve?

You will research popular search queries, recognise emerging trends, and craft engaging, SEO-optimised digital stories covering TV, celebs, travel, finance and more. You will use a variety of search tools to research and understand the queries people are searching for, identifying the latest search trends and turning them into engaging digital content.

You will use and understand key search terms needed to boost your content and know the ideal times and platforms to optimise your stories. You will write engaging stories in an accessible way, always keeping your target audience in mind. You will ensure all your content meets the Liverpool Echo’s high standards whilst being in accordance with IPSO code. This role will involve working shifts on a rota basis including some weekends and evenings, so a flexible approach is required.

 

Qualifications

Who are we looking for?

You are a passionate journalist with an NCTJ or equivalent journalism qualification, strong knowledge of media law. You are a first class writer with a proven track record of building content plans around SEO. You ideally have experience working with a CMS and demonstrable experience in digital storytelling, using video, words and pictures.

You are passionate about television and can write with authority about celebrities, identifying entertaining lines from TV shows to engage audiences. You have a strong understanding of SEO and can produce content which works in search, and also delights readers. You have expert knowledge of your patch and know how to tell stories that will relate directly to our ever growing and diverse audience.
