Three journalists who achieved the highest marks in their National Qualification in Journalism (NQJ) exams this year have been congratulated by the NCTJ’s senior examiners.

Free to enter, the annual awards recognise the achievements of talented individuals with promising journalism careers ahead of them.

After students, trainee and apprentice journalists were honoured at the NCTJ’s Awards for Excellence earlier this month, we take a look at the winners who were working in roles funded by the Community News Project (CNP).

Paul Derrick, from the Bury Free Press and Suffolk News, has been honoured for his outstanding contribution to journalism training in the newsroom with the NCTJ’s chairman’s award.
