Final diversity bursaries for 2014-15 awarded

Two budding journalists have been awarded Journalism Diversity Fund bursaries to embark on NCTJ-accredited training courses.
The bursary winners and their chosen NCTJ-accredited courses are:

Olawale Kuponipe, Press Association London

Interviews took place at the Financial Times on Friday, 5 December with two panels consisting of Colin Campbell-Austin, Head of Talent and People Development, Telegraph Media Group; Colleen Harris, journalist, BBC; Shevon Houston, events and website manager, NCTJ; Martin Stabe, head of interactive news, Financial Times; Tony Tassell, deputy news editor, Financial Times; Laurie Tucker, day editor/journalism training, Sky Sports News and Leo Whitlock, editor, Kentish Gazette.

The interviewees were quizzed on their passion for journalism, financial need and diversity.

Bursaries are awarded four times a year to students planning to study an NCTJ-accredited course. They are awarded to students from socially or ethnically diverse backgrounds and can help them cover the cost of course fees and living expenses.

This was the last round of bursaries granted for this academic year between September 2014 and August 2015.

Applications for the next academic year will be accepted from February 2015. The first deadline will be at the start of April with exact dates still to be finalised.
