First speakers announced for NCTJ Digital Journalism Seminar

The National Council for the Training of Journalists is delighted to announce the first keynote speakers at the Digital Journalism Seminar on 20 October 2011, at Press Association in London.

The National Council for the Training of Journalists is delighted to announce the first keynote speakers at the Digital Journalism Seminar on 20 October 2011, at Press Association in London.

Speakers on the day will include:

Stefan Stern, director of strategy at Edelman and former columnist at the Financial Times, will speak about the relevance of digital skills and why it is important to adapt to new ways of working.

Fergus Bell, senior producer at Associated Press, will talk about how journalists can use Twitter effectively and how this skill can be taught successfully to students.

Ian Reeves, journalism tutor at the University of Kent and former editor of Press Gazette, will talk to delegates about how to train students in the use of digital media.

Chris Maguire, editor at the Chorley and Leyland Guardian, will cover how digital media is used in the regional press and the skills required by trainee journalists.

The one-day seminar is designed for those who teach multimedia reporting skills on NCTJ-accredited courses or in the newsroom and will also be useful for anyone that needs to improve their knowledge of digital journalism.
