Journalism Diversity Fund awards final bursaries of the year

Four aspiring journalists have been awarded bursaries by the Journalism Diversity Fund to complete NCTJ-accredited training courses.
The bursary winners and their chosen NCTJ-accredited courses are:

• Katrinah Best, Press Association London
• Georgia Collins, City College Brighton and Hove
• Waithera Junghae, Press Association London
• Felicia Pennant, News Associates London

Interviews took place at talkSPORT in London on Friday 13 December.

The panels, whose members included: Craig Bloomfield, editor, talkSPORT; Hugh Muir, diary editor, The Guardian; and Suzy Talbot, deputy editor, Trinity Mirror Southern, quizzed interviewees on their passion for journalism, financial need and diversity.

The announcement brings the total number of bursaries awarded this year to 22.

Bursaries are awarded four times a year to students planning to study an NCTJ-accredited course. They are awarded to students from socially or ethnically diverse backgrounds and can help them cover the cost of course fees and living expenses.

Applications for bursaries for the academic year 2013/2014 are now closed. The schedule for the 2014/15 academic year will be published on the Journalism Diversity Fund website in the New Year.
