Time is running out for students and trainees to enter the NCTJ Awards for Excellence in Journalism. The deadline for entries is now just two weeks away, on 14 September 2012.
Now in their fifth year, the awards are open to students on NCTJ-accredited courses and trainee journalists working toward the NCE who have less than two years experience in their field. Tutors and editors may enter on behalf of their students and trainees.
The awards are free to enter and there are five individual categories:
- News journalism
- Sports journalism
- Top Scoop/exclusive
- Features of the year
- Images of the year
There is also a brand new award for best student publication.
Entries can be submitted in video, audio or written formats. For full details of how to enter the awards please see our website.
The deadline for all entries to reach the NCTJ is 5pm on Friday 14 September 2012. The awards will be judged by a panel of journalists and the winners will receive their awards at a special ceremony at the Journalism Skills Conference on 28 November 2012.
There is also a chance to submit nominations for a special award, the NCTJ Chairman’s Award which will recognise an individual’s outstanding contribution to high standards of journalism training. Anyone can put forward a candidate to be considered for the NCTJ Chairman’s Award, which will also be presented at the Journalism Skills Conference in Nottingham.
