Last chance to book for Qualifications forum

The NCTJ’s new multimedia qualifications for trainee journalists will be explained at a special forum at Bloomberg in London on Tuesday 20 April.

Bookings to the event are welcome from editors and heads of journalism from NCTJ-accredited courses.

Outline proposals for the new qualifications were presented at the Journalism Skills Conference in Glasgow in December and there was strong support for the new approach which is based on core skills for all journalists.

Core skills assessments include multimedia reporting, essential public affairs, shorthand and essential media law including regulation. Candidates will also be expected to put together a multimedia portfolio of work.

A number of specialist options for different sectors and occupations include: sub-editing; video journalism; television journalism; radio journalism; sports reporting and business of magazines.
