The EDF East of England Media Awards 2012 shortlist announced today is dominated by NCTJ graduates.
Every reporter shortlisted in the Newcomer of the Year category is registered for the NCTJ NQJ/NCE. All of them are working towards the NQJ having completed pre-entry training with the Gold Standard of A-C grades and 100wpm shorthand at News Associates or Press Association Training and one trainee is a direct entrant who is training on-the-job.
And it is a similar story in the Digital Journalist of the Year, Print Journalist of the Year (weekly) and Print Journalist of the Year (daily) categories, where all nominees are NCTJ trained.
NCTJ trained reporters are also nominated for Specialist Journalist of the Year, Sports Journalist of the Year and Columnist of the Year.
ITV Anglia, whose head of news Catherine Houlihan helped develop the NCTJ broadcast journalism module, are also well represented. ITV Anglia is nominated for Television News Programme of the Year, while reporters are shortlisted in the Specialist Journalist of the Year, Sports Journalist of the Year and Television Journalist of the Year categories.
The awards honour the best in journalism across Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire and the winners will be announced at a ceremony next month.
