The NCTJ’s flagship event, the Journalism Skills Conference, returns this year on 23 and 24 November. Delegates will be guests of Sky and Kingston University for two days of talks, debate and discussion, with Hampton Court Palace providing a magnificent backdrop for our annual awards ceremony.

The event, now in its tenth year, will consider some of the latest developments in journalism education and training.  The key themes of quality journalism and innovation will run through the conference sessions. We’ll be looking at digital skills and new technology, professional development and standards, employability and careers. There will be plenty of practical new ideas to share and different skills to learn.  The growing role of social media as a distribution channel for content continues to demand a broader range of journalism skills and raises important questions we’ll be debating about trust and ethics.

The awards ceremony at Hampton Court Palace, on the evening of 23 November, promises to be a memorable one. Every year we salute the NCTJ’s top courses and recognise the best new journalistic talent – these are the ultimate accolades for our industry’s brightest new apprentices, students and trainees. The awards are open for entries until 15 September for those who have done great things in journalism this year or want to nominate those who have made an outstanding contribution to training.

So join those from across the media spectrum who are at the forefront of ensuring high journalism standards and are working in partnership with the journalism education and training sector.

The two-day event is now open for bookings and, thanks to the generous support of our partners and sponsors, continues to offer exceptional value for money.
