The NCTJ has launched a new online logbook for trainees working towards their National Qualification in Journalism (NQJ).
The NCTJ has launched a new online logbook for trainees working towards their National Qualification in Journalism (NQJ).
The e-logbook is an updated online version of the hard-copy logbook that will be introduced for all new registrations. Those already completing an old style logbook can continue to do so.
Trainees have access to a secure login where they will have to complete 20 key tasks, one of which is a new assignment on social media, and two of which are ‘trainee’s choice/showcase’, allowing them to include four pieces of work of their own choice.
The move to an online logbook will make it easier and more efficient for trainees to collect evidence as part of their NQJ. It follows the successful introduction of the e-portfolio in the Diploma in Journalism.
The e-logbook is being introduced following the review of the National Certificate Examation. The NCE has now been replaced by the National Qualification for Journalists.
The new NQJ is divided into four sections: the e-logbook; the news interview; an updated news report paper; and a new media law and practice paper, which puts more emphasis on media law, regulation and ethics, replaces the previous newspaper practice.
