NCTJ Photography Exhibition moves to Sheffield

Following a successful run at The Guardian in London this summer, the NCTJ Photography Exhibition is to be on display at the Winter Gardens in Sheffield from 14 to 23 September 2011.

The exhibition, which is part of the NCTJ’s 60^th anniversary celebrations, showcases quality press photography and photojournalism from NCTJ-trained photographers working in regional, national and international media. There are 50 canvases on display, showing a wide range of subjects and photographic styles. The images show events from the 1970s through to the present day.

Speaking at the original exhibition launch at The Guardian, NCTJ chairman Kim Fletcher said: “The National Council for the Training of Journalists is 60 years old this year – we thought this exhibition was a great way of celebrating the work of some of those photographers who’ve been through our training over the years.

“More than 140 photographs were submitted to us from all over the UK and 50 were selected by the NCTJ photography board. When you look at these pictures you see just what a wealth of talent there is in British media – and we are really proud that the NCTJ has played a part in the development of that talent.”

The exhibition is being supported by PhotoBox, who printed all the canvases for display.
