NCTJ strikes gold

The NCTJ has achieved Investors in People Gold, the highest national award for best management practice and people development.

Already recognised at silver level, the prestigious Investors in People Gold status was awarded to the charity following a detailed inspection visit in January.  Less than one per cent of recognised organisations have achieved gold status.

 In her letter congratulating the NCTJ, Elaine Johnson, managing director of the Assessment Network, said:

“Gold represents achievement of world-class best practice.  It shows a truly cutting-edge organisation is operating at the very highest levels of people management practice using Investors in People to drive the business forward.”

The assessor, Linda Simpson, said in her report: “This considerable achievement is testament to the desire of everybody involved in the organisation to ensure that it strives for a high standard in everything it does.”  She made special mention of the NCTJ’s leadership capabilities, its development strategy and plans, the commitment to continuous improvement, and the approach to reward and recognition.

Joanne Butcher, NCTJ chief executive, said: “Everyone involved in the NCTJ is working hard to provide a world-class education and training system for journalists and the media.  We are thrilled that these efforts and the dedication and professionalism of our team have been recognised with this award.”
