NCTJ student secures traineeship with Daily Mail

An NCTJ student has managed to secure a traineeship with the Daily Mail straight after graduating from his course.

Nik Simon, who completed his NCTJ training at Lambeth College, starts work with the paper today.

He said: “I worked hard on building my portfolio and I think that was my biggest strength in the application process. My best stories didn’t come through standard media sessions but by approaching people in places like the gym and the pub, maybe I should spend more time in those kind of places.”

Roz McKenzie, course leader at Lambeth College added: “Nik is very confident, with a great nose for a story. I am not surprised the Mail snapped him up.”
