Packed programme for media law seminar

The unveiling of a new edition of a key text, a leading speaker from the legal world and prize-winning students make a packed programme for an upcoming media law seminar.

The NCTJ media law seminar will be held at The Law Society, Chancery Lane, London, on Friday 10th July.

The 20th edition of McNae’s Essential Law for Journalists, written by Mark Hanna and David Banks, will be unveiled at the seminar.

Author Mark Hanna will be speaking to the seminar about the new book, outlining changes and updates made to the new edition. Preview copies will be available to view.

The book, known affectionately as “The Bible” to journalists and editors across the country, is published by Oxford University Press and will be available to buy from the NCTJ website’s eStore, along with a host of other key texts for a career in journalism.

The meeting will also be addressed by leading lawyer Mark Stephens of law firm Finers Stephens Innocent.

Mark Stephens is a Solicitor of the Supreme Court in England and Wales who regularly undertakes libel, newsgathering, reporting restrictions, media and anti-counterfeiting work. He is well-known for his frequent TV appearances as a media law expert.

Students who achieved the best grades in recent NCTJ media law exams will also be presented with prizes at the seminar.
