The 2016 NCTJ Journalism Skills Conference sessions will be hosted this year in Portsmouth, home to two of the NCTJ’s leading accredited course providers: Highbury College and the University of Portsmouth.
The 2016 NCTJ Journalism Skills Conference sessions will be hosted this year in Portsmouth, home to two of the NCTJ’s leading accredited course providers: Highbury College and the University of Portsmouth.
The two-day event will be co-hosted by the two centres, with the first day at Highbury College and the second day at the University of Portsmouth, on 24 and 25 November. The venues boast high-quality journalism training with Highbury College winning the award for best performing further education fast-track course 2015 while University of Portsmouth has risen up the results table of the best performing degree course.
Delegates will stay at the Ibis Portsmouth hotel and enjoy the annual awards dinner gala at the Royal Navy Submarine Museum, including a tour of the HMS Alliance.
The conference is an unmissable opportunity to discover the latest developments in training and working practices, bringing together the movers and shakers across all sectors of the industry.
Among the highlights this year will be a discussion about ethics in the media, digital reporting from inside court, and digital data and mobile journalism masterclasses. Not to be missed is the debate about how the accreditation standard should evolve to reflect the radical changes made to the structure and content in the Diploma in Journalism.
It is also an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of those involved in journalism education and training. The NCTJ Awards for Excellence promise to be bigger and better than ever following the record-breaking number of entries last year. The top-performing apprentices, students, trainees and accredited course providers will be recognised at an awards ceremony and gala dinner at the Royal Navy Submarine Museum on the evening of 24 November.
