Students put journalism training into practice to cover 2015 general election

NCTJ students from across the UK were out in force to cover the general election on Thursday, 7 May.

Students on accredited courses at Bournemouth University, Brighton Journalist Works, Brunel University, City of Liverpool College, Kingston University, Lambeth College, News Associates, Nottingham Trent University, Sheffield College, Staffordshire University, the University of Kent, the University of Sheffield and the University of Sunderland attended election counts for regional newspapers (such as The Argus), as well as regional and national broadcasters.

Journalism apprentices working for BBC local radio and The Independent also covered the latest general election which appeared to defy opinion polls.

Many of the centres, including Bournemouth University, Nottingham Trent University, Staffordshire University and University of Sheffield also provided coverage through their own student-run websites.
