Trevor Kavanagh to speak at public affairs seminar
Political columnist for The Sun, Trevor Kavanagh, will be the keynote speaker at the public affairs seminar on 13 March.
Political columnist for The Sun, Trevor Kavanagh, will be the keynote speaker at the public affairs seminar on 13 March.
Trevor has worked in the regional and national press in the UK and Australia since joining the industry aged 17. He became political editor of The Sun in 1983 and was promoted to associate editor in 2005. Trevor’s most memorable scoop was revealing the results of the Hutton Inquiry before the report was published in 2004.
He will address delegates at the seminar held at the Local Government Association in London. The event will provide an update on key issues and developments in public affairs and will be of interest to those involved in training professional journalists. Topics will include: devolution, local government, NHS and the EU.

- Paul Francis, political editor, KM Group
- Laurence Meehan, head of public affairs and campaigns, Local Government Association
As well as learning from the experts, there will be an opportunity to share ideas, seek advice, and raise any concerns about the NCTJ’s essential public affairs programme of study and examinations with other tutors, members of the examinations board and staff.
The event will include the launch of the fourth edition of Morrison’s Essential Public Affairs for Journalists by Oxford University Press.
