David Kett, senior examiner for the NCTJ and member of the public affairs board, has been honoured with the 2013 NCTJ Chairman’s Award for his outstanding contribution to journalism training and education.
The NCTJ will run two ātrain the trainerā sessions on artificial intelligence (AI) with Jody Doherty-Cove, head of editorial AI at Newsquest, to support journalism tutors.
"Prior to beginning this course I had been very nervous about my lack of experience in journalism but was determined to learn as much as possible as quickly as possible to ensure that I was useful in the newsroom. I chose to delve into the apprenticeship route because it ensures a direct step in the door."

London Evening Standard digital journalist, Rachel Blundy, said she would recommend a trainee job at a regional paper to “every single one” of the 43 members of the NCTJ Student Council on Friday, 7 February.
