Exam refreshers

We offer a series of refresher sessions to help you prepare for your diploma or NQJ exams.

Exam refresher sessions are ideal for distance learners and those who would benefit from additional support ahead of NCTJ exams.

The virtual sessions are led by experienced NCTJ tutors and examiners who can help prepare candidates for both diploma and NQJ exams.

Diploma in Journalism refreshers

Ahead of national exam dates, refreshers are offered on the following diploma subjects: Essential journalism and essential media law and ethics.

Prior to attending, candidates will be sent a sample exam to complete and return to the tutor, who will mark the paper and go through areas of difficulty at the workshop. You will also be asked to submit your top five areas of concern so the tutor can work into the programme.

The essential journalism refresher will take place on Wednesday, 23 October between 10am and 2pm.

The essential media law and ethics refresher will take place on Monday, 28 October between 1pm and 5pm.

Both sessions cost £80+VAT per person.

National Qualification in Journalism (NQJ) refreshers

Two-day refresher sessions for the NQJ exams are held in February, June and October each year, offering practical experience and feedback on all sections of the NQJ.

You will be given coursework and mock exams to complete in advance of attending, which will be marked with feedback. As part of the refresher, you will also complete a full mock exam day.

The tutor will also review your logbook and provide advice and guidance.

Group sessions cost £360, for those who have not pre-paid for a session as a distance learner.
